Transit times and service descriptions are planning references, not fixed commitments or live quotations. Actual delivery depends on origin, cargo type, capacity, border handling, customs documents, final address and peak-season conditions.
Door-to-door describes the transport endpoints; it does not automatically include every tax, unloading service or exceptional charge. Check whether the quote includes pickup in China, export handling, international transport, destination handling, customs brokerage, duties and taxes, and final delivery. Confirm whether insurance, storage, inspection-related handling, waiting and redelivery are charged separately. Compare currency, charging units, cargo details and validity dates. The written scope of the quotation matters more than labels such as all-inclusive or door delivery.
DAP and DDP are Incoterms® 2020 trade rules; door-to-door describes a transport service's scope. Under DAP, the buyer normally handles import clearance and import duties and taxes; under DDP, these obligations normally fall to the seller. Under both rules, delivery at the agreed destination is normally on the arriving vehicle, ready for unloading, rather than unloaded by the seller. Specify the precise delivery point and confirm the importer, local feasibility and freight quote's scope. Choosing DDP does not itself establish the seller's eligibility to complete import formalities in the destination country.
Arrival at a European port or rail terminal is a transport milestone, not confirmation that the goods are released and ready for delivery. Unloading or deconsolidation, release authorisation, import clearance or transit formalities, and vehicle and warehouse bookings may still be needed. Confirm the current milestone, missing documents, collection availability, free-storage deadline and receiving window for the actual shipment. Do not treat the estimated terminal arrival date as the delivery date. For time-sensitive cargo, check warehouse opening hours and unloading conditions in advance so that delivery can be arranged when the goods become available.
Each delivery location has different requirements. For Amazon and other fulfilment centres, check the current warehouse and shipment requirements for appointments, labels, pallets and handover documents. For commercial warehouses, confirm the address, opening hours, appointment and unloading equipment. Construction sites also require checks on vehicle access, ground conditions, lifting or forklift arrangements and the on-site contact. Do not assume the receiver can unload. Tail-lift vehicles, cranes, waiting time or redelivery should be discussed before booking and their charges confirmed in writing.
